Director or Associate Director of Informatics

Cytobank is looking for an experienced Data Scientist who knows how to analyze single cell biological data, works well in teams, and delivers high quality projects on time. What You Will Be Doing

  • Work with internal and external scientific customers/collaborators to define, develop, prototype and implement data analysis workflows and pipelines utilizing the Cytobank platform.
  • Collaborate closely with the product development team (UI/UX, software engineering, quality, product management) to turn next generation methods into scalable tools, and translate informatics and biological requirements into data workflows.
  • Present at scientific conferences on the Cytobank software platform (both biological and computational conferences).
  • Assist Cytobank customer support team members in resolving advanced analysis queries.
  • Assist with grant writing and white papers.

Minimum qualifications

  • M.S. in Computer Science, Biostatistics, Biophysics, Bioengineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or related field
  • 4 years experience analyzing data sets with applications to biomedicine (preferably oncology and/or immunology) with fundamentals in statistics
  • Training in data structures, design patterns, and algorithms
  • Programming experience with R/Bioconductor, shell scripting, MATLAB, and relational databases (MySQL)
  • A passion for data visualization (experience using ggplot, matplotlib, D3.js, etc)
  • A committed, team player with excellent communication skills (oral and written)

Desired qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Biostatistics, Biophysics, Bioengineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or related field
  • 5+ years experience working alongside biological or clinical collaborators (network biology, translational and/or clinical data)
  • Experience working with and managing cross-functional teams
  • A solid foundation in statistics and both unsupervised and supervised machine learning techniques with skills in feature identification
  • Experience working with sparse data sets within a biological domain (examples include experience with flow cytometry, CyTOF, scRNA-seq and other expression data in immune profiling and oncology)
  • Programming and design experience with R/Bioconductor, shell scripting, MATLAB, relational databases (MySQL), Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, and Ruby

Data Scientist or Associate Data Scientist, Scientific Services

Cytobank is looking for a superstar Data Scientist to manage scientific services projects for its life science research customers. If you are analytical, like solving scientific problems, are a results oriented, and are an excellent communicator, we’d love to chat. What you will be doing

  • Performing projects that help customers and partners discover more from their single cell data using machine learning methods and statistical analysis tools that are present both in Cytobank and in R
  • Proactively engaging customers to source and develop opportunities for collaborative projects
  • Working cohesively with Sales and Customer Service to initiate these projects
  • Assisting with development of materials for training, support, and marketing
  • Assisting with customer support and training

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computational biology or bioinformatics
  • 2 years experience using data science to solve biological problems
  • Proficiency in R
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills, especially involving technical subject matter
  • A problem-solver, looking for the simplest solution to a problem
  • Highly motivated independent worker but also a team player

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in biological sciences or informatics or related field
  • Experience with single cell data analysis
  • Experience with immunology
  • Experience using the Cytobank platform
  • Experience designing and/or executing data analysis services projects for internal or external customers
  • Experience working with SaaS platforms
  • Experience authoring and maintaining R packages

Software Developer (Full Stack)

Cytobank is looking for an experienced full stack Software Developer who works well in teams and delivers high quality code on time. If you are interested in using your skills to contribute to a platform that is helping leading scientists around the world treat cancer and other important diseases we’d love to chat. This role is a great opportunity to work with experienced developers and biological data scientists in a dynamic growing informatics company.

Cytobank is a cloud-based machine learning platform that is enabling faster, more thorough analysis, visualization, and management of high dimensional single cell data in biological research. Leading scientists from the top pharmaceutical companies and academic medical research institutions around the world use the platform to answer complicated, cutting-edge scientific questions. The application processes datasets with millions of cells that have 50 or more features per cell and displays biologically useful correlations. The platform can reduce the analysis time from months to days accelerating learnings made from clinical trials and helping speeds therapies to market to ultimately help patients.

What you will be doing

  • Design and build new backend services on AWS to support our platform
  • Design and build new front-end features
  • API design and development
  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software
  • Write tests for existing and created code to ensure compatibility and stability

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required
  • 4+ years’ software development or programming experience
  • Extensive experience with Java, C++, Ruby, Python, and other programming languages
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks like AngularJS, React, Ember etc. (we currently use Backbone with Marionette)
  • Database technologies like MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB

Desired qualifications

  • Deployed production applications on AWS
